This book covers the need for a mixed form of management that reconciles operational goals and growth objectives. The first three chapters are instrumental in understanding the many contradictory pressures that oblige companies to use a mixed approach. They also explain the basic principles behind it and suggest practical individual and team evaluation tools. Chapters 4 to 10 provide specific instructions on how to deploy these two management approaches simultaneously. Starting from the observation that companies are better at managing for the short term than conducting long-term growth strategies, they focus on key processes and allocation of responsibility needed for a company to grow despite immediate pressures. Chapter 12 warns against the temptation of using the economic crisis as an excuse for temporarily neglecting growth. Indeed, accentuating the multimodal management approach could be the very key to survival!
