Stimulating and instructive, this book draws an enlightening parallel between cognitive sciences--and particularly recent advances in research on the subconscious--and the way complex organizations work. The author compares the obsrved neurobiological behavior of human beings with organizational behavior. He points out that companies can be modeled as social organisms which--like human beings--behave according to their interpretations and emotions and rely largely on their subconscious to survive and adapt to their environment. The author then combines his experience and the perspective contributed by this model to suggest relevant organizational management principles. Some of these principles may appear to contradict common assumptions, but resonate particularly given the fascinating metaphor on which they are based. This book uses simple and colorful language to encourage readers to take a refreshing new look at organizational management.
