As consultants specialized in the delocalization of service functions to India, the authors of this book propose to share their experience. They underline the fact that although many companies are attracted by the idea of generating huge savings, many discover too late the risks and constraints connected with this new management trend.
The book is interesting for two main reasons. One, there is a large quantity of data and factual information given throughout the book: salary costs in India depending on the type of position, compared advantages and disadvantages of different countries on the global service outsourcing market, description of the main vendors and the services they propose, etc. Two, chapters 5 and 6 describe the methodological elements required to define an outsourcing strategy and select the vendor best adapted to the company’s needs. In addition, chapter 8 also provides a few brief, but pertinent pieces of advice on managing the social and political dimensions of an outsourcing decision.
