Manageris opinion
Clarity, extensive coverage of all the questions that an outsourcing initiative raises, concrete responses, a diverse range of quality examples – this is definitely a work of reference that any manager considering outsourcing any function of his or her company would do well to consult.
The entire book is definitely worth reading for managers, with the possible exception of chapter 6, whose theoretical musings are more aimed at an academic population. Most of the practical advice can be found in the second part of the book. In particular, chapters 7 and 8 suggest some interesting methodological tips on supporting the decision to outsource a function, or conversely, keeping it in house, as well as tips on vendor selection. Among other useful elements, chapter 10 contains a list of clauses that should be included in an outsourcing contract. Finally, chapter 11 specifies the conditions for transferring staff to the vendor under French legislation.
